About UsedTireShop
Last updated October 7, 2026
UsedTireShop helps you check a used tire before you buy it. It is operated by UsedTireShop and has two parts: free tools that read a tire's markings (its date code and age, tread depth, size, load index and speed rating) and do the arithmetic, and an independent directory of used tire shops in the United States.
A map search for “used tires” returns every kind of tire shop, and most of them do not sell used tires. We list a shop as a used tire shop only when its own website or its business name says so, and we quote the shop's own words, with a link to the page and the day we read it, so you can check for yourself.
What you will find here
- Shop pages for shops whose own website says they sell used tires and also posts other details we can quote: opening hours, prices, services or the tire brands they carry.
- A finder that also lists shops whose business name says they sell used tires, with the address, phone number and website from their map listing.
- Tire tools built on the federal rules that define the date code, the size marking, the tread-wear indicators and tire load limits, and on tire makers' published charts and guidance for load index, speed rating and tire age, each quoted with its source. See the list of tools, starting with the tire date code decoder.
Where the information comes from
The directory currently holds 140 used tire shops, of which 23 shops have a page, in 14 states. This first edition covers the areas around 12 cities and grows from there. Shop names, addresses, phone numbers, map points and websites come from public map listings found through web search (when a shop's own website shows a different phone number, we show the website's and say so). A shop gets a page only when its street address also appears on its own website. We never copy the listings' ratings, reviews or opening hours. What a shop sells, charges and offers is quoted from the shop's own website. The editorial policy explains the process.
Independence
- We do not own, run or represent any tire shop, and we sell nothing.
- Shops do not pay to be listed or to appear higher. There are no sponsored listings.
- We do not publish star ratings or copy reviews from other websites.
- The site carries no advertising today. If that changes, ads will be labeled, kept apart from shop information, and the privacy policy will be updated first.
Mistakes and changes
Shops move, close and change what they stock. If a listing is wrong, or you run a shop and want its details updated or removed, see how to report a correction.
